Shawna Jarman received her Honours BA in Anthropology from the University of Guelph and an Advanced Diploma in Applied Museum Studies from Algonquin College. She has been working in the cultural and heritage field since 2012 and has worked in small and large institutions across Canada including the Senate of Canada. As the Assistant Curator, Shawna leads the management and preservation of the collection, handles research requests, and assists in the planning and implementation of our exhibitions. In addition to this, she has also enjoyed being on the Voices of Freedom Education Committee, the 2024 Canadian Museum Association National Conference Committee, Algonquin College’s Applied Museum Studies Program Advisory Committee, and various others. She also led the development of the collaborative publication Making Her Mark: The Women of Niagara-on-the-Lake (2021), which received an Ontario Museum Award of Excellence in Publications in 2022.
