On Victoria Day weekend in 2021, the remains of 215 Indigenous children were unearthed at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, British Columbia. As a result, widespread attention on Residential Schools has occurred and the topic of Residential Schools once again resurfaced that sparked further dialogue on Canada’s colonial history and policies of assimilation that sought the assimilation of Indigenous people into the dominant society. But for many Canadians, the “discoveries” or “concrete evidence” that confirms oral accounts by survivors of Kamloops Indian Residential School showcases many Canadians are without knowledge or seek guidance for society to progress, both collectively and individually. In this lecture, Stanley “Bobby” Henry welcome's you to a presentation on Canada’s policies of aggressive assimilation, the fallouts of this raced-based policy, and what key strategies help move society forward in spirit of truth and reconciliation.

Presentation is will take place over Zoom.  Admission is free but registration is required.  Click the "Learn More" link to register.
