Join us to hear Brian Marshall, an author, columnist and consultant on architectural design, restoration and heritage, tell the tale of John and Mary Breakenridge. This was a couple whose rising fortunes in the first quarter of the 1800’s and climb in social status within the Town of Niagara was reflected in three landmark residences they caused to be built.
Who they were, what they did, and what happened to them is a fascinating glimpse into the world of 19th Century Niagara and Upper Canada. It is a dramatic tale of success, struggle and a legacy which still graces the streets of Niagara-on-the-Lake today.
