Alexander is a University of Toronto graduate with degrees in Finance and Landscape Architecture. He is a fellow of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architecture and an Emeritus Member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architecture.
He was a founding partner of a Toronto-based multi-disciplinary design practice from which he retired in 2010 to settle in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He has been an active volunteer for many years with various professional associations, serving most recently as Chair of the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Council and as a current member of the Cultural Landscapes and Legacy Committee.
He has a keen interest in Cultural Landscape history in general, but with a particular focus on the role of early design professionals in the evolution of the extraordinary built landscapes of the Niagara Region.
